I was going to write a really nice post and the whole story behind this but I don’t have the energy right now.

This picture is of my principal, assitant principal, and I during No Name Calling Week.

I got my GSA to do this thing where we wore shirts with names crossed out that we dislike when used out of context, with negative connotation, or just to hurt others intentionally.

Long story short, the idea caught and random kids at my school that weren’t even part of the GSA were wearing shirts that they had made, some with names they had been called personally (like “Gay Bitch”). It completely took me by surprise, and the whole event turned out to be pretty powerful.

On Thursday my principal stopped me, wearing a shirt that he had made. Apparently he had asked the sponser of our GSA about the outbreak of shirts in his hallways and decided to make one of his own, along with the assistant principal. He told me that he supported the GSA 100%, and that he was proud of me.

I may or may not have broken out in tears. That’s not important.

The important part is that I had just been about to completely give up trying to make this Gay-Straight Alliance work. We had started it ourselves but it was going nowhere. I felt like I was letting my babies down. This event opened everyone’s eyes to who we are and what we are capable of. I couldn’t be prouder.

I have hope now.

Congrats, Eli!

Congratulations, TSER founder Eli Erlick for successfully petitioning the Bay Area Aesthetic Surgery board to approve your gender confirmation surgery as a minor! This new advance in surgery may begin a trend for GCS/GRS surgeons across the world to allow 16 and 17-year olds to get bottom surgery who wish to do so.
Eli will be gone starting February 12th, 2013 for a couple weeks while in recovery. But you can still send her an email at eli@transstudent.org!
